How do I prepare for a treatment?

It is best to remove all earrings, any metal jewelry and any battery-powered devices, such as a watch or cell phone for any therapy. You can remove these items at the office.

Korean Eight Eight Constitution Diagnosis and Acupuncture is performed below the elbows and below the knees. For these therapies, it is recommended that you wear loose clothing that enables access to those regions and does not constrict the joints.

Auricular therapies require access to the ears. This includes the Alternative Medicine Evaluation and the Balanced Energetic Allergy Treatment (BEAT). Korean Hand Therapy requires access only to the hands and wrists.

If you are experiencing any hip, lower-back, leg, and/or knee problems, it it is best to wear loose clothing so that heat and/or light therapies may be applied directly to those regions.

I cannot tolerate needles. Is it still possible to receive treatments?

Balanced Energetic is committed to providing the latest advancements in technology and treatment. For those who do not tolerate needles, you can choose to receive acupuncture with laser, microcurrent or even adhesive press-seeds instead. Laser stimulation can require a bit more time, and may not be as effective for certain imbalances or disharmonies, but these are all wonderful alternative for those who have an aversion to needles.

How often will I need treatment?

It really depends on your complaint and the condition your health. However, because auricular and hand therapies are gentle, practical, convenient, discreet, and perhaps most importantly, maintained at home for several days or weeks, appointments can be shorter and can occur less frequently than other, more traditional acupuncture therapies. In our modern world, where lives are often hectic, schedules packed, and demands constant, the advanced solutions offered at Balanced Energetic are powerful and invaluable.

You offer several therapies. Which is right for me?

Depending on the problems you’re facing, and your goals, a variety of therapies may be applied to affect the highest possible improvement. Read below for more information about the various therapies available at Balanced Energetic.

What is Auricular Therapy and Medicine?

The World Health Organization (WHO), announced, in 1990, that Auricular therapy is "probably the most developed and best documented, scientifically, of all the "micro-systems" of acupuncture and is the most practical and widely used."

Auricular Therapy and Auricular Medicine are built on several important discoveries that prove the ear is a powerful microsystem, essentially a map, of the body’s energy systems. While acupuncture has been performed at the ear for centuries in China, it was in Lyon, France during the 1950s that Dr Paul Nogier successfully mapped the entire body’s energy system on the ear, in what is known as the inverted fetus model. This model looks like much like a fetus, upside down. For instance, access points of the head are located at the earlobe, the spine along the outer ridge, and the feet at the ear’s apex.

While using the inverted fetus model is helpful in addressing acute physical ailments, Dr. Nogier continued to refine his exploration of this microsystem, and discovered two more representations that are useful in addressing acute and chronic pathologies. He also discovered that stimulation of the auricle can change the amplitude and dimension of the pulse. This is known as the VAS or vascular autonomic signal.

Auricular Therapy and Auricular Medicine were developed following these discoveries. They are performed by accessing the ear’s bioenergetic field, and receiving feedback via the vascular autonomic signal, also known as Nogier’s pulse. By balancing, testing, and then normalizing the body’s bioenergetic field, chronic pathologies can be improved.

What is Korean Hand Therapy (KHT)?

KHT focuses on using the hand as the map, or microsystem, to access the body’s meridian system. There are 14 meridians and over 345 accessible acupuncture points on the hand, which mirror the acupuncture points of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Because our hands have a very rich blood supply and are highly ennervated, this makes KHT quite powerful and effective. Plus, the hand allows for convenient treatment without undressing. KHT, Korean Hand Acupuncture, and Soojichim are all different names for this therapeutic system. It was discovered by Dr. Tae Woo Yoo in the 1970s.

What can I expect with the Alternative Medicine Evaluation (AME)?

The alternative medicine evaluation is a holistic health diagnostic that uses advanced Auricular Medicine to communicate with the body’s bioenergetic field (BEF).

In order to conduct a successful AME, jewelry and shoes must be removed. Then, certain treatments and protocols need to be applied to stabilize the BEF. This ensures that the information obtained from the BEF is accurate. This is done quickly through pain-free microcurrent stimulation, balancing asymmetric laterality or oscillation occurring between the cerebral hemispheres, and removing any blockages to healing. Blockages may be psycho-emotional, toxic, or structural. With this, the AME is not just a powerful diagnostic technique, it is also a treatment in itself.

Then the evaluation is conducted. You are placed within what is essentially a circuit, holding a weighted metal mass that is connected to a metal holder plate. Various filters are then placed within the plate. These filters include samples of various substances, including tissues, viruses, bacterial organisms, gems, minerals, vitamins, and more. Evaluating the BEF response to the presence of the filters determines which substances have negative and positive effects upon the body.

After completing the AME, remedies are prescribed and available at additional cost. Subsequent acupuncture treatment may be necessary after the AME, but must be scheduled for another visit.

It is advised that the remedies are taken for eight weeks, then return for an included follow-up in which further treatment is determined, if necessary. Once treatments are deemed complete, it is advised you return for an AME once a year.

The complex remedies used at Balanced Energetic are custom formulated by Dr. Nader Soliman and are manufactured privately using the most advanced form of remedy formulation available.

What can I expect during the Korean Eight Constitution Diagnosis?

To begin the diagnosis, a link to a secure, confidential questionnaire will be emailed to you. The questionnaire will help evaluate your personal preferences and tendencies, things that are important aspects for discovering your constitution. The in-office diagnosis involves feeling the pulse at both wrists, as well as kinesiological testing. More questions will also be asked during this time. Diagnosis typically takes 30 minutes. Specialized acupuncture is also included at this time (see more below).

Once your constitution is determined you will be provided with personalized lifestyle guidance. This includes the kinds of foods and activities, including professional endeavors, that are best suited for you. Paying attention to your constitution, nourishing it, and understanding it, can lead to higher levels of energy, health, and fulfilment throughout your life.

Some people may arrive for diagnosis in an unhealthy state. If there is not enough of a clear signal to make the diagnosis, you can return at a later date, at no charge, to have the diagnosis verified.

What can I expect from Korean Eight Constitution Acupuncture?

Korean Eight Constitution Acupuncture is included with the diagnosis. It is a very unique form of acupuncture rarely performed in the West. Treatment varies for each constitution, with set combinations of acupuncture points that are stimulated in a certain order. Depending on the constitution diagnosis, and the type of physical complaint you might have, the treatment can range from stimulation of as few as four points or over a hundred.

This form of acupuncture does not utilize the typical acupuncture needle. Instead it is done with a patented tool that applies stimulation via a very thin point, that goes no deeper than 1 millimeter, and stays in the skin for only an instant. If you cannot tolerate needles, laser therapy is available.

Treatments are very quick, energizing, and effective, and, when necessary, allows for the stimulation of many more acupressure points than standard acupuncture treatments. Unlike the standard acupuncture provided in the US, Korean Eight Constitutional Acupuncture is not a means of relaxation. It is a means of treatment and energy balancing. Therefore, you can receive treatment, even early in the day, without risk of feeling sedated afterward. This form of acupuncture can be applied every day, multiple times a day, if necessary.

What can I expect from the Balanced Energetic Allergy Therapy (BEAT)?

The BEAT is a combination of Soliman’s Auricular Allergy Treatment (SAAT) and auricular medicine allergy testing for the 120 most common environmental and food related allergy families.

Together they can eliminate the body’s reaction to an allergen, often permanently, with one session. Allergies of any type (food, environmental, pharmaceutical, seasonal, or chemical) can be treated. Like all auricular therapies, the BEAT is performed on the ear. A very small, 3-6 mm needle is placed and remains for at least three weeks. It is removed in a 15-minute follow-up appointment (included in price).

Insertion is virtually painless, and the needle is generally not felt. It is advised that the allergen be avoided for the entire three weeks, however, this is sometimes impossible. In these cases, longer treatment may be required, but often does not.

Although many allergy samples (such as most pollens and food items) are available at Balanced Energetic, it is best if you can bring a sample of the suspected allergen as well (for instance, cat or dog hair, a specific prepared food, or a cleaning product).

If you plan on receiving a MRI, PET or CT SCAN, the needle MUST be removed beforehand.

Cancellation Policy

A minimum of 48-hours’ notice (2 business days) is required for cancelling/rescheduling any appointment. For example, an appointment scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday must be cancelled or rescheduled by 11:00 am Tuesday—two business days prior to your scheduled appointment—in order not to incur the appointment fee. Appointments scheduled for Mondays or Tuesdays need to be cancelled or changed by the prior Thursday or Friday, respectively.

Balanced Energetic takes pride in our policy of scheduling only one patient at a time. Unlike other doctor’s offices that schedule two or three patients in the same time slot, at our office your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you.

This policy enables us to serve our patients in the best way possible but also limits the number of patients we can accommodate in any given day. In addition, we generally have patients who are on a waitlist for an earlier appointment, and a 48-hour cancellation/reschedule policy allows us to accommodate those patients in a timelier manner.

The overwhelming majority of cancellations and appointment change requests we receive are not due to unforeseen emergencies, but it is a result of scheduling changes or conflicts that are known well in advance. Having a 48-hour cancellation policy allows us to accommodate both new and existing patients in a timely manner.

We care about our patients and we want you to know that our cancellation policy is not a penalty but a system based on mutual respect. Most of our patients understand the intent of this policy. Very rarely, we have a patient who feels penalized by being charged for his/her missed appointment. We want to make sure that you do not feel this way (if one day you miss an appointment); therefore, it is important to be clear about our policy ahead of time.

We try our best to help you avoid cancellation fees by using an email reminder system. Although we do this as a courtesy to our patients, please understand that remembering the date and time of your appointment is your responsibility.

Unavoidable circumstances may warrant special consideration, but please note that the full appointment fee will apply to most cancellations without greater than 48-hours’ notice.
